Com grande expectativa no Brasil e forte repercussão nas redes sociais — especialmente nas mídias de entretenimento — muitos estavam confiantes de que o filme brasileiro O Agente Secreto, estrelado por Wagner Moura, poderia conquistar o Oscar pelo segundo ano consecutivo.
A confiança do público vinha do feito histórico ocorrido em 2025, quando o Brasil conquistou sua primeira estatueta com o filme Ainda Estou Aqui, estrelado por dois grandes nomes da dramaturgia nacional: Fernanda Torres e Selton Mello.
